Learning to delegate

As the caregiver, you are taking on many responsibilities, but you don’t have to bear them all alone. Part of being an effective caregiver is knowing how and when to involve others. Delegation and these two simple actions will help you more than you know:

  1. When you need help, ask for it.
  2. When friends and family members offer their help, accept it.

Make a list of how you could use help and brainstorm the people best suited to assist. See the chart below for tasks that are easy to delegate and how they will lighten your load. 

Recognizing you need help and graciously accepting it, allows loved ones to feel they are contributing in a worthwhile way.
