Linette Atwood, Publisher
Linette is a publisher with more than 25 years of leadership experience in medical publishing. In the early 1980s she co-founded Atwood Publishing, which set the standard in delivering news and information at major medical meetings throughout the United States. Atwood Publishing grew to be the largest company in its field. In the mid-1990s, Linette co-founded and was the Chief Executive Officer of Exhibitor Visibility Worldwide (EVW). Both companies led the way in publishing the latest advancements in treatment and care during national meetings. The primary audience for both Atwood Publishing and EVW was doctors and other medical professionals. As a cancer survivor, Linette has a unique perspective on the many challenges faced by both patients and families when confronting a life-altering disease. Her goal is to set a new standard in medical publishing by equipping patients with comprehensive and disease-specific resources designed to empower and heal.
Charles M. Balch, MD, FACS, Editor-in-Chief
For more than 30 years, Dr. Balch has led a distinguished career as a clinical and academic surgical oncologist. He is recognized as a leading authority in both melanoma and breast cancer, and has made significant contributions to laboratory research in tumor immunology. Dr. Balch is currently Professor of Surgery and Oncology for Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, as well as the Director for Clinical Trials and Outcomes Research. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in Washington, DC. He has held leadership positions at three comprehensive cancer centers, including UAB, MD Anderson and City of Hope. Dr. Balch is author of over 650 publications, and is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Annals of Surgical Oncology.
Debby Easum, Senior Vice President
Debby has more than 20 years of leadership experience in publishing, marketing & management. Immediately prior to joining Patient Resource, Debby held the position of Publisher – Medical Media for Ascend Media where she was responsible for managing sales and publishing for many key accounts including the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Previously, Debby held the position of Chief Operating Officer for Exhibitor Visibility Worldwide, a company acquired by Ascend. Earlier in her career, Debby was a part of the senior management team during the growth years of Atwood Publishing, and then spent five years with Intertec Publishing (now owned by Penton) where she received the coveted Employee of the Year Award in 2000.
Matt Smithmier, Managing Editor
Matt has more than 13 years of medical writing experience, working in various hospitals, clinics and health systems in the Midwest. Most recently, he served as director of public relations and marketing for Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo., and before that worked in a similar capacity for HCA Inc. With expertise in both printed and online publications, Matt joined the Patient Resource team in 2012.
Stephanie Kenney, Vice President, Business Development 
Stephanie is a 27-year veteran in the advertising business. Stephanie first teamed with Atwood Publishing in 1987 and worked with pharmaceutical and industry clients for more than 15 years in sales and management positions. At Exhibitor Visibility Worldwide, she worked with such clients as the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Stephanie remained with EVW when it was sold to Ascend Media.
Kathy Hungerford, Vice President, Business Development 
Kathy has been with the company since the first edition and sells advertising to Cancer Treatment Centers including targeting the larger centers with NCI designation. She has more than 17 years of sales experience. Prior to joining Patient Resource, Kathy spent 11 years doing advertising sales for Atwood Publishing. Her first five years were spent working on various national tradeshow publications. Her next six years with Atwood Publishing included working as the National Sales Director for the tradeshow official publication EXPO Magazine.
