Alison R. Walker, MD, MPH, MBA

Dr. Alison Walker was recruited to join the hematology faculty at Ohio State University in 2008 after completing her fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Rochester. She was asked to join the myeloid malignancy team and lead the development of phase I trials for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and this continues to be the focus of her clinical research. She has also been able to develop as a teacher and mentor, working closely with the hematology and oncology fellows as the program director for the combined fellowship program. As the director of our acute leukemia program, Dr. Walker has worked to create a clinical and research environment that first and foremost provides excellent care to patients and their families, but also allows junior faculty to develop successful academic careers. As the director for inpatient operations for the division of hematology, her focus continues to be excellence in patient care, but from the standpoint of optimizing efficiencies and processes in the inpatient setting in an evidenced based manner. The ability to implement and evaluate innovative technologies in clinical settings that accomplish these goals will ultimately improve patient care.
